DROP the Ohio State Marching Band in the middle of a Busby Berkeley number. Amp up the complexity level by 1,000, and there you have it: a drum & bugle corps in action.

Basically a turbo marching band paired with a souped-up precision dance troupe, drum & bugle started after WWI, when American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts found themselves with surplus instruments. Except for its colorful uniforms and props such as rifles and sabers, it’s since abandoned its military roots and created its own artistic path.
