Official Truman W. Crawford Hall Dedication

| |

Marine Barracks will officially dedicate Colonel Truman W. Crawford Hall on Monday September 14th at 11 am with a ceremony honoring the 3rd Director of “The Commandant’s Own,” The United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps. The newly renovated training facility is named after the legendary Marine who served as its Director for 25 years with over 40 years of service to the armed forces.

In 1968, Colonel Truman W. Crawford, formerly of the US Air Force Drum & Bugle Corps, became musical arranger and instructor for “The Commandant’s Own”. During his 30 year Marine Corps career, he created a national musical image while sustaining the art form known as ‘drum corps’ within the armed forces.

General James T. Conway, 34th Commandant of the Marine Corps, will be the guest speaker for this historic event. This ceremony is open to the general public.

Publisher’s Note: We’ve been advised by Colonel Crawford’s family that those that would like to attend this dedication service should visit the USMC Drum and Bugle Corps site for more information. Further, you may contact the US Marines Protocol Office at 202-433-4073 for more information or to RSVP.
