Blue Devils Welcome Al Murray

The Blue Devils are excited to announce that Allan Murray will be joining the organization as System Blue Product Development Manager. He will work closely with the Blue Devils staff on research and design. Allan’s years of experience will be invaluable as he manages the relationship with System Blue partner companies – Pro-Mark; D’Addario; DrillMasters; Conn-Selmer and building exciting future partnerships.


Allan began his music career at the age of 6 as a percussionist in the Stratford Boys Band, London Midlanders and theToronto Optimists Drum and Bugle corps before moving on to California to play snare drum in the Anaheim Kingsmen. Al graduated from Humber College in Toronto, Ontario and studied music at the University of South Florida. Al taught and/or arranged for such drum and bugle corps as the 1975 Oakland Crusaders, 1976-77 Seneca Optimists, 1978 Spirit of Atlanta, 1982-86 Suncoast Sound, 1989-91 and 1998-99 Boston Crusaders, the 1999-2001 Pioneer, the 1994 Magic of Orlando and the undefeated 1994 Empire Statesmen. Internationally Allan has taught clinics in Canada, United States, Japan, South Africa, Indonesia, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Allan was a music arranger and Director of Distribution Operations for Columbia Pictures Music Publications now Warner Bros. Music Publications in Miami, Florida for 10 years. On April 1, 1998 he joined DEG Music Products, Inc. as their new Dynasty USA product line manager responsible for all sales, marketing, research and design of marching brass, bugles and percussion and he was promoted to Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Dynasty USA/ DEG Music Products, Inc., in 2002.

Al has been involved as a performer, arranger, composer, clinician and adjudicator in the marching music activity for 49 years. Today Al lives in Palm Springs, CA.
