Bushwackers Announce 2010 Percussion, Brass, And Visual Caption Heads

The Bushwackers Drum & Bugle Corps is excited to announce the addition of Rob Thatcher as the Percussion Caption Head for 2010. In addition, we are pleased to announce the return of Chris Kilian as Brass Caption Head and Jason Pliska as Visual Caption Head.

Rob Thatcher is a long-time Bushwacker who got his start in drum corps in 1993 as a member of the Bushwackers Tenor Line. Rob went on to march with the Crossmen and instruct the Skyliners and the Jersey Surf before returning to the Bushwackers in 2005 as a marcher/instructor. Rob has written for and/or instructed many successful band programs, including his current position at Old Bridge H.S. (NJ). The Bushwackers are excited to have Rob take the reigns of our percussion program.

Chris Kilian is beginning his 2nd season as Brass Caption Head in 2010. Prior to holding this position Chris was a marching member, administrator, and staff member for the corps for 13 years, 10 of which were spent as drum major. He spent 2008 as the arranger and program coordinator for the 2nd place Fusion Core, and returned to the Bushwackers in 2009 to the position he currently holds. Mr. Kilian is excited to return in 2010 to build on the positive momentum and firm foundation build in 2009.

Jason Pliska, as well, will begin his 2nd season as the Visual Caption Head of the Bushwackers. Jason’s holistic and coordinated approach to the visual program helped bring our "Psychotic Circus" to life in 2009. Mr. Pliska is an active and well respected judge in several circuits, and is currently the director of the Triton HS "Free Spirit" winterguard and the program coordinator for Matawan H.S.
