Satellite auditions are different from "regular" camp auditions that are held in Dubuque, IA, and serve as a convenient way to find out about the Colts program and see if you are ready to earn a position.

Camps in Dubuque run Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, and members stay overnight in the host school. The weekend culminates with a full corps performance on Sunday afternoon.

A full weekend camp consists of member and parent meetings, one-on-one auditions, group auditions, small and large group ensemble rehearsals, ensemble and individual movement sessions, and seven corps-cooked meals that are provided by parent volunteers.

Many volunteer parent projects take place as well, where new and veteran Colts parents get together and work on projects that help us get on the road in the summer.

It it truly a very exciting weekend for all who participate! Watching hundreds of young people come together from different walks of life and be able to put together a performance for their parents and friends is magical to say the least.

Satellite auditions are one day only and will consist of individual playing and visual auditions. Come to the audition with a prepared piece that demonstrates your best playing abilities. Each brass participant will receive immediate feedback regardless of audition results.

A brass staff member will be on hand for personal auditions. Percussion and guard members are invited to attend to learn about the Colts and do a video audition. Video auditions are great because Colt representatives are on hand to answer your questions. If a large number of guard or percussion are attending at a particular site, an appropriate staff member will be available for auditions.

Each participant will be given the result of their audition immediately following the audition process. While it is possible an exceptional performer may be offered a membership position on site, most participants will be given things to work on and an invitation to attend a second and final recall audition in Dubuque.

After you have completed the audition process and have received your results and feedback, you are free to leave or speak to our on site administrator if you have further questions.

In order to reserve an audition spot simply email us at mike [at] colts [dot] org. Please include the following information in your email…First and last name, date of birth, email address, mailing address, cell or home phone number(s), the instrument that you wish to audition on (guard may enter the word "guard"), the audition date and location that you plan to attend. We will send you a confirmation and further information via email. It is VERY important that you include all of the above requested information in your email!

Please also let us know if you require a special time for your audition. You may attend just a portion of the audition day as well. If you have other obligations and can not make it until a later audition time, do not let that stop you from auditioning! Just let us know what your plans are and we will do our best to fit you in.

THERE ARE NO HIDDEN FEES IN ORDER TO JOIN THE COLTS!

The fee for the satellite audition is $75, (cash, check made payable to the Colts, Visa or MasterCard), and will be collected at the audition. This fee will go towards the first weekend camp you attend in Dubuque, IA.

Your first rehearsal weekend is $125,($75 for returning members), and each additional rehearsal weekend is $50. This fee is collected at each camp, and does not apply towards summer fees. We provide five full meals and two snacks during the weekend camps, plus overnight accommodations in the school.
