In The News: Building Named In Honor Of U-E Grad And ‘Legendary Marine’ Truman Crawford

Not many people get to be called a legend. The late Col. Truman W. Crawford is one of the fortunate few.

"A legendary Marine" is how a recent article described the Endicott native and graduate of Union-Endicott High School, who for 25 years directed the U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, transforming "The Commandant’s Own" into a professional organization with a national image.

In a tribute to his service, hundreds of people — including former drum and bugle corps members — recently gathered in Washington D.C. on what General James T. Conway, Marine Corps commandant, called "an historic day in our Corps."
