Bushwackers Announce 2010 Program

| |

The Bushwackers kicked off the 2010 season with a large crowd of new and returning members at the Thomas R. Grover Middle School in West Windsor, NJ. Excitement was in the warm air as car after car pulled into the parking lot.

The day started off with a full corps meeting to introduce the administration, discuss some housekeeping items, and to introduce the staff and the 2010 program. Without further adieu, the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps 2010 Program is entitled:

VOODOO

The show will consist of original compositions written specifically for the Bushwackers by composer Key Poulan, and will be presented in four movements: Origins, Rituals, Gris-gris, and Black Magic.

Much more information about the show will become available over the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

With the introductions and the all-important show announcement out of the way, the corps broke up into sectionals for the remainder of the day and rehearsed. After all of the talk and announcements about the new Jupiter Quantum Brass purchased by the corps during the off season, the members of Bush Brass were excited to get to work. The horns definitely surpassed expectations, and we’re all excited to hear them outside this summer.

The day ended with a "show and tell" from the color guard, brass, and battery percussion. Pictures of the open house can be found in our 2010 Gallery. A special thanks to Xtreme Drum Corps, Inc. for being such a huge help with securing this great rehearsal facility for us.

Staff Additions

The Bushwackers are pleased to announce the addition of longtime Bushwacker Jess D’Andreamatteo to our percussion staff as Front Ensemble Instructor.

Jess began her drum corps career with the Bushwackers in the early 2000’s. Her teaching credits include Fusion Core Drum & Bugle Corps in 2008 and several high schools around the region. She is currently pursuing her degree in music education as a percussion student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and the corps is happy to have her back on board in 2010.

The Bushwackers welcome Mike Arena to the brass staff as a Brass Instructor.

Mike Arena is a graduate of West Chester University and aged out of the Crossmen in 2004. He’s currently the assistant director and drill designer for West Chester East High School and an educational representative for Music and Arts. The Bushwackers are excited to have him on board for the 2010 season.

Ms. D’Andreamatteo and Mr. Arena are the latest additions to a growing, talented, and energized staff dedicated to providing a fun and competitive drum corps experience to our members. Check out our staff and their bios at www.bushwackers.org/staff.htm
