The St. Kevin Emerald Knights Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps was pleased to announce it’s new assistant horn instructor, Allen Bourgeois at their Open House. Al will be assisting horn instructor Buzzy Bergdoll as the Emerald Knights prepare for another banner year in 2010.

Al has an admirable music background. He attended Rindge Technical School , the New England Conservatory of Music, and Boston University. He’s traveled and toured the United States and Canada for ten years as a professional musician and has been a long time member of the “Banned In Boston” show group. Al plays trombone professionally with the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra and is former and founding member of “Bay Colony Brass” classical brass ensemble.

Al, a software engineer/architect is married and lives in Nashua, NH with his wife Cathy. They have three children, a daughter Jackie, a son John both residing in Nashua and a son Allen who is married and lives in San Francisco.

Al and Cathy (Martin) marched in St. Mary’s Annunciators drum and bugle corps in Cambridge in the 60s. Al remained in the activity by judging both High School Band and Drum Corps competitions for the DCI, DCA, Eastern Mass, MICA, NESBA, MBDA as well as teaching many drum corps such as the Boston Crusaders, Watertown Cadets, Winchester Queensmen, Chelmsford Buccaneers, Waltham Phoenix, Nashua Spartans, Princemen Alumni, Bostonians and Haverhill Esprit de Corps Alumni.

As St. Kevins Emerald Knights continues their amazing journey into 2010 they continually strive for excellence. Speaking of excellence the corps had a sensational show in Plymouth under the direction of Buzzy Bergdoll, music, Mike Tobin, percussion and color guard instructors, Sheila Flaherty and Lee Ann Hustins. This corps is evolving into a corps to be reckoned with. The crowds will once again be on their feet while St. Kevin Emerald Knights entertain them with songs from the past along with that wonderful “St. Kevin Sound” from years gone by with 2009 additions Zoot Suit Riot, Mask of Zorro, The Jackie Gleason Theme, Millenium Fanfare and of course let’s not forget that unforgettable song from last year, “It’s Not Easy Being Green”. They’ll be more surprises to come in 2010 as Buzzy Bergdoll continues to arrange new pieces.

The corps is looking forward to another superb year in 2010 under the musical instruction of Buzzy Bergdoll and his new assistant director, Allen Bourgeois. And…..Away We Go!
