Forte of Grand Prairie, TX is excited to announce the Drum Majors for the 2010 Season. CJ McCrory of Tennessee and Will Bishop of Ohio.

CJ McCrory will be serving as the Head Drum Major. CJ is no stranger to the podium, having served as the Head Drum Major for Memphis Sound in 2009. This may be CJ’s 2nd year on the DCI podium as Drum Major, but this will mark his 5th year total in the role of Drum Major. CJ is 18 years old and is in his second semester at the University of Tennessee studying Music Education. He hopes to become a High School Band Director, then get his PhD and teach at a university.

CJ writes: "I am ridiculously excited to spend another summer doing drum corps. We have an amazing staff and so many talented individuals with Forte this year and I can’t help but be ecstatic to be a part of the inaugural season of Forte. I hope to create an easy and smooth transition for the new corps and retain the many traditions of Memphis Sound so that they may be carried on in the future as well as establishing new traditions as Forte."

Will Bishop will be serving as the Assistant Drum Major. He is 16 years old and is currently in his junior year of high school at Worthington Kilbourne in Columbus, Ohio. He is actively involved in all curricular and co-curricular bands, choirs, and performing ensembles that my school offers. He was chosen to be high school Drum Major as a sophomore, the first sophomore ever since the district’s inception in 1957. Will is a bassoonist, but plays all woodwind instruments. He is an aspiring high school band director that hopes to teach in Texas someday!

Will writes: "It’s difficult to find a place to begin to express how grateful and excited I am to take the field with Forte D&BC in the 2010 season as Drum Major. I look forward to helping to establish a new tradition of excellence with Forte. I am also looking forward to working alongside CJ McCrory in 2010, learning all that I can about how drum corps works and the do’s and don’ts of the business. I’m beyond ecstatic for the season to begin and have a strong hunch that it will be a fantastic one!"

Chris Green, Corps Director writes: ‘The Staff and Management Team of Forte are very excited to have these two talented young men lead our first year on the field. I had the chance to work with CJ at Memphis Sound and he is a remarkable individual with a great
future ahead of him. Will is new to drum corps, but his energy, excitement, and willingness to learn and adapt will serve him very well in achieving his goals. Forte is very fortunate to have these two individuals with us in 2010 and I look forward to seeing them achieve great things!"

Forte continues to hold auditions for the coming season until all spots are filled. Audition locations in Texas, Ohio and Virginia are on going. Current Openings exist in the hornline (all sections have at least one opening), Cymbal line, and Timpani. Remaining Snare and Bass Drum positions will be contracted at the February camp (New Auditionees are welcome, and individuals called back for those positions). Colorguard has filled all contracted positions, but are considering expanding the number of spots. Colorguard will return in April and new applicants are encouraged to apply.
