In The News: SE Washington’s VIP Drum And Bugle Corps Seeks An Encore

As a teenager, Edward Dalton could hear from his parent’s home the punchy brass and rhythmic drum sounds of a few dozen musicians rehearsing a few blocks away.

He finally got the nerve one night to visit the practice site of the VIP Drum and Bugle Corps at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Morris Road in Southeast Washington. "I loved what I was hearing," he said.

Dalton made his way up the hill to the outdoor rehearsal space and was given his instrument of choice, a contrabass. "I carried that instrument almost everywhere I went," he said.
