In The News: Pero ‘Not Ignoring His Roots’ Even As Music Career Blooms

Joey Pero hasn’t exactly felt the love in Western New York lately.

While his fans have been supportive of the 1999 Batavia High School grad, booking agents have been less so, publicist Charles Ressler says.

"It has been difficult to get someone to commit space in Rochester, Buffalo or Batavia," Ressler said by phone from New York City. "I think he’s going to be playing at Jazz at Lincoln Center and then he’s going to Australia this summer. As bigger things are going to be happening, it’s going to be harder and harder to bring him to Western New York."
