Santa Clara Vanguard Announces Brass Along The Central Coast Competition

Nestled in California’s beautiful Central Coast, in rolling hills just south of the Santa Lucia Coastal Mountain Range, a few miles from the Pacific Ocean and not far from San Simeon, the famed Hearst Castle (La Cuesta Encantada), the Santa Clara Vanguard and co-sponsor Atascadero High School Music Boosters will host Brass Along the Central Coast drum corps competition on Sunday evening, June 27, beginning at 6PM in the thirty-eight row, 2000-seat, Atascadero High School Memorial Stadium, Atascadero, CA.

In place of last year’s Vanguard-sponsored competition in Santa Barbara, Brass Along the Central Coast will allow drum corps fans to enjoy a pre-show, 3:30PM clinic from the World Class Vanguard, as well as a later performance from the Vanguard, who will be debuting their 2010 BARTÓK program on this opening California drum corps weekend. Also appearing are fellow World Class California neighbor Pacific Crest of Diamond Bar, CA, the visiting Open Class Revolution Drum Corps from San Antonio, TX, Velvet Knights from Pasadena, CA, Impulse from Buena Park, CA and Gold drum corps of Hawthorne, CA.

“There isn’t a bad seat in the house at the Atascadero Memorial Stadium,” according to SCV’s Show Chair Ray Pulver “as the venue rises 38 rows and above the field and features two sections of fantastic general admission seating for 2000.”

The Orange General Admission center section ($20) places 784 seats between the 40 yard lines starting at row 10 up to row 38, with each individual seating area clearly marked. The Silver General Admission sections ($15) includes seating between the 40 yard lines (rows 1-10), as well as seating outside the center Orange section, yet inside the 28 yard line, rising from row 1 to row 38. Ticket prices will raise $5 on the day of the event. Groups of 20 or more can take advantage of a special rate ($12) in the Silver section by contacting DCI.org or calling the Drum Corps International office (317-275-1212) from the day tickets go on sale in early May through Friday, June 18.

The stadium’s first row of seating starts approximately six feet above the field level and features wheel chair accessible seating in the center of the bleachers.

Outlets on the Central Coast will be selling tickets beginning Monday, May 2. There are plans for five ticket sales centers in Atascadero, including the Atascadero Main Street Association and the Chamber of Commerce. Tickets will also be available in Santa Barbara at Nick Rail Music Center. There will also be at least one ticket outlet in each of the following communities: Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande. Group rates will be handled exclusively by DCI through Friday, June 18.

Sunday, June 27 had originally been scheduled as Brass Along the Beach at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta/Santa Barbara, however field repair and stadium construction at all four major venues in Santa Barbara will be commencing in mid-June. Brass Along the Beach @ UCSB, sponsored by the Vanguard and co-sponsored by San Marcos HS is scheduled to return in the summer of 2011.

San Luis Obispo County/Central Coast ticket outlets will be listed here on Sunday, May 1. If you have questions about the show or need more information, please call 408-727-5532 x20.
