Connecticut Hurricanes Announce 2010 Drum Major

| |

The Connecticut Hurricanes are excited and pleased to announce that Hayley Milliman has been selected as the head drum major for the 2010 season. Hayley is twenty years old and started her music career at Norwalk High School where she was a flute player for three years before serving as drum major in 2008. After taking a year off, she missed marching too much and came to the Hurricanes as a mellophone player, earning the title of Brass Member of the Year for the 2009 season. Instead of marching with a DCI corps, Hayley came to the Hurricanes to march for a season and see what happened and definitely did not expect to find the family she now has in the Hurricanes. DCA fans will have fun in watching this charming young lady conduct the corps and will easily connect to her conducting ability.

Hayley is a junior at Columbia University majoring in Classics and Anthropology. She is involved in several organizations on campus and hopes to audition for the orchestra and wind ensembles next year. She hopes to eventually pursue a career in international humanitarian aid and is working this summer at Save the Children in Westport, Connecticut. Her hobbies outside of drum corps include traveling, the outdoors, and playing sports while being very active in the student government on campus. The Connecticut Hurricanes as well as Miss Milliman are extremely excited about the upcoming season as the storm warning flags have now been posted.
