In The News: Drum And Bugle Corps To Entertain Locals

In early August, four drum and bugle corps en route to a major competition will be stopping in Schuylkill County to rest, practice and entertain.

"There are between 120 to 150 performers in each group," according to Terry McGlone, Schuylkill Haven, a housing coordinator for Drum Corps International East.

"They play brass and percussion instruments. Trumpets. Mellophones. Baritone tubas. Snare drums. Quads, which are multiple tom-toms. And more," said Michael F. Ryan, band director for Pottsville Area’s D.H.H. Lengel Middle School.
