In The News: Lots Of Little Drummer Boys (And Girls) At Laidley Field On Monday

Greg Newell says the best way to describe Drums Across the Tri-State is "marching band on steroids." The annual drum and bugle corps show comes to Laidley Field at 7:30 p.m. Monday, the first time it’s been part of FestivALL.

"It’s loud, colorful and moves fast," said Newell, secretary of the board of directors and a member of the show committee of the Phantom Regiment, the corps sponsoring the show.

"What people see high school bands do is entertaining, but drum corps do this full time for several months and get far more precise and do far more demanding shows, both musically and in their marching. They’re what competitive marching bands are striving to be."
