Colt Cadets and Racine Scouts were able to perform on the field, then Pioneer was interrupted by nearby lightning.

The safety and security officer constantly monitored the weather throughout the evening, and the individual corps directors, DCI contest coordinator and show sponsors agreed in advance that a third interruption to the competition (due to lightning) would force the corps into the new field house for a standstill performance.
