In The News: Award-Winning California Drum Corps Teaches Buffalo Students

Ameer McBeth was so excited to be among a group of professional drummers that he ran on to the field during their show at Riverside High School today to mimic their movements.

The 15-year-old Buffalo resident who will be a junior at the International Preparatory School at Grover has been playing the drums since 6th grade. Today he learned drum technique from the prestigious Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps of Pasadena, Calif. during an educational workshop for Buffalo Public Schools students.

“You have to know timing, discipline. You also have to know when to start playing, when to stop playing and how to play the music,” McBeth said.
