The Drum Corps Associates (DCA) World Championships return to Rochester this coming Labor Day weekend. The event will feature approximately 3,000 performers ? including a number from the Rochester area, many from throughout the United States, Canada, and one group from Great Britain.

These performers belong to over thirty of the best drum and bugle corps in the world. These elite marching music ensembles each feature up to 128 brass, percussionists and color guard with members of all ages. They are guaranteed to wow audiences as they compete in the final competition of the 2010 drum corps year in what organizers call, “the Super-Bowl of drum and bugle corps.? You will witness an energetic blend of challenging musical arrangements, spellbinding marching formations and dance choreography that are delivered with precision, artistry and showmanship. The music is an array of classical, jazz, pop, and show tunes performed on Rochester?s largest stage ? The field at Rhinos Stadium! More about DCA:
The primary function of DCA is to provide an organization of drum & bugle corps with rules and regulations, which provide for continuous progress and growth for drum corps. Using entertainment as a primary goal, DCA performances are unique and represent “state of the art” in mass appeal drum and bugle corps. DCA strives to provide performers with stimulating and rewarding social experiences, to provide a competitive outlet for performers, and to entertain and excite the audience. It is DCA’s objective that member corps should be entertaining, unique, emotional, diverse, vibrant, spirited, and energetic without sacrificing the highest level of quality. To achieve this objective, the DCA philosophy is to encourage each and all corps to choose and perfect the vehicles that entertain audiences and satisfy membership. Audiences should expect and receive varied programs performed with the highest level of proficiency within the structure of the activity.
