In The News: Parks Leaves Indelible Print
Under the more than three decades of leadership George Parks gave the Minuteman Marching Band, it was transformed into an attraction that captivated many.
Parks came to UMass with a new style. He eliminated the traditional high-step marching and took a more drum corps-like approach to performances.
He understood that many of the performances, including those at football games, were meant for people not accustomed to what a marching band does.
