Chris Tomsa Named 2011 Colts Program Coordinator

Colts Executive Director Greg Orwoll is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Tomsa as Program Coordinator and Brass Arranger for the 2011 season.

“Chris brings 40 plus years of experience in the drum corps activity to this position and has a proven track record with some of the top organizations in DCI and with the Colts.” The 2011 season will be his 7th with with Colts. “He may be the perfect combination of artist and organizer that a Program Coordinator must be to be successful,” said Orwoll.

 

“Chris has a passionate approach to his music and to the activity that I believe will provide us the direction we would like to take in moving our corps forward aesthetically and competitively.”

“We have been very pleased with the work that he has done for the last six seasons corps as our brass arranger and are really excited to have him in this expanded role. I believe he will be a key in helping our members reach the next level.”

Chris Tomsa Resume:

The pageantry arts have been Chris’ passion for 4 decades as a performer, instructor, arranger, composer and adjudicator.

Chris has instructed and arranged for many of the world’s finest drum and bugle corps, including Phantom Regiment, Madison Scouts, Glassmen, Colts, Capital Regiment and 27th Lancers.

In his years at Madison, they won three DCI high brass titles and the 1975 World Championship, where Chris mentored with DCI Hall of Fame brass instructor James Elvord.

Chris also had the unique opportunity to mentor with two other legendary band and drum corps arrangers, Ray Baumgardt and Jim Ott.

He put this experience to good use in the marching band activity for the last 20 years, having arranged for some of the nation’s top high school and college marching bands from around the country.

Chris is an adjudicator for WGI Sport of the Arts and is President of the Mideast Judges Association.

He lives in Berea, OH where he is Director of Client Services for Hyatt Legal Plans, a MetLife company. Chris studied music education at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Case Western Reserve University, and the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
