2011 Academy Audition Camps Report

Over the past two weekends The Academy launched their 2011 season with the strongest attendance in years with over 275 young prospective members attending. The staff has offered 78 brass member positions with another 24 being “called back” for another look. Another 20 have been assigned a Trainee position for the duration of the spring. 16 members have been asked back in the front ensemble and another 8 for the cymbal section. Most of the remaining drumline are on “callback” status for review at the first training camp in January. A highlight for the drumline is the fact that 5 members of the snare line are returning with another 7 vying for the last 4 spots. The colorguard had a strong start this weekend with the members’ first opportunity to work with new Caption Head Chris Velez. The guard has their final round of auditions during the January training camp before they go on their annual winter hiatus.
