2011 Spirit Of Atlanta Audition Camp #2 Report

| |

Spirit of Atlanta continued the 2011 audition process at Ola High School this past weekend. Corps Director Dr. Todd Snead said, “We were very pleased to see a large number of returning, as well as new, members this weekend. The number of young people auditioning for Spirit of Atlanta has nearly double since last year and the level of talent and preparation they bring to camp is incredible!” In addition to continuing the audition process, conductors for 2011 were announced and the brass section performed “Harlem Nocturne.”

Drum Major and Conductor candidates were treated to a special conducting and leadership clinic by Koji Mori, Conductor of the 2008 DCI World Champions, Phantom Regiment. The audition process concluded with each candidate having the opportunity to conduct “Salvation is Created” with the brass section. Leading the corps on, and off, the field this summer will be Drum Major Trey Brunn. Trey is a Music Business major at Middle Tennessee State University and a six-year veteran of the corps. Although he began his tenure at SOA on euphonium, Trey is eager to serve the organization by sharing his skills and talents on the podium this season. Joining Trey will be Conductors Ben Boskoff and Scott Walker. Ben is a Music Education major at the University of Georgia and returning for his second year as a conductor at SOA. Scott hails form Ammes, Alabama and will be joining SOA for his first season this year. Congratulations to all of our outstanding conductor candidates on a job well done.
