Clark, Couch, Johnson Among 2011 Music City Legend Staff

The Board of Directors of Music City Legend Drum & Bugle Corps is pleased to announce that Mike Clark, Gordon Couch, and Carlos Johnson have joined the corps? instructional staff for the 2011 season.

Mike Clark, of Owensboro, Kentucky, is the corps? new Brass Caption Head. Clark took over teaching the corps? brass section and mini-corps this past spring. He is the former Director of Bands at Daviess County High School in Owensboro, Kentucky. Clark received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Austin Peay State University. During a 29 year public school teaching career, he directed bands at several high schools in Kentucky. His performing groups consistently received Division I ratings, including eight ?final 4? appearances at the Kentucky State Championships in three different classes. As a member of the Kentucky Music Education Association, Mike has served as State Chairman of Bands, District Two President, as well as a member of the initial Marching Band Board of Control that planned and established the Kentucky State Marching Band Championships. Among many other awards, Mr. Clark received the 1992 Secondary Teacher of the Year award from Hopkins County (KY) Schools and was named High School Music Teacher of the Year by KMEA in 1995, 1998, and 2001. Phi Beta Mu, the national bandmasters fraternity, selected Mr. Clark as its Outstanding Bandmaster in 2004.
