Academy Announces 2011 Colorguard Staff

The Academy is proud to introduce the growing roster for the 2011 Colorguard Staff. New to the guard staff is Designer and Caption Head, Chris Velez. Chris will be brining on board several new designers and instructors to The Academy including: Designer Mykail Costner, Tim Mikan, John Escalante, Patty Huerta, and Joey Valenzuela. Also returning to the guard staff is Sergio Marquez. Look forward to more announcements regarding the Guard staff and other captions for the corps as the auditions draw nearer. Chris Velez, Colorguard Designer and Caption Head

Chris Velez began his performing arts career with the Riverside Community College Marching Tigers, Fantasia Winter Guard, and the Concord Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps. Leaving his performing days behind him, Chris transitioned into the role of choreographer, designer, and instructor. Over the course of 10+ years, he has had the privilege of working with several groups that include Ramona (Riverside) HS, Poway HS, Chino Hills HS, Riverside Community College – Marching Tigers, Fantasia, and their Winter Drum Line. He has also been fortunate enough to work with organizations in Japan such as the Yamato Drum & Bugle Corps and the Yokohama Scouts.
