DCI Hall of Fame Member Howard Dahnert Passes Away
Howard Dahnert, patriarch of the Racine Scouts, passed away on Sunday, January 23, following a brief illness. Howard was affiliated with the Racine Scouts since 1928, and held many positions within the organization. He was an active participant with the corps for more than seven decades. He was a 1935 Eagle Scout, and was an active participant in many drum corps organizations; most notably the Badgerland Drum Corps Association, of which he was a founding member. In 2007, Howard was inducted into the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame, with Legacy honors and was well known throughout the drum corps activity.
Mr. Dahnert was a fervent supporter of youth activities throughout Racine and southeastern Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Winnie, along with sons Robert and James, and his daughter, Cynthia.
