Atlanta CorpsVets Offers Scholarships For 2011

| |

Atlanta CorpsVets all-age Drum and Bugle Corps is proud to announce its scholarship offerings for 2011. Out of remembrance of friends lost and in appreciation for our community, CorpsVets offers several scholarships each year to help performers offset the cost of tuition for various marching and scholastic undertakings.

Jason Lowe Memorial Scholarship – The Jason Lowe Scholarship honors the memory of Jason Lowe, a young CV member and drum corps enthusiast who passed from cancer in the summer of 2001. Jason’s brave spirit and enthusiasm for this activity touched many. To honor Jason’s memory, a scholarship of $250 to offset the expense of member tuition is offered to marching members of any corps. Lisa Abney Scholarship – The Lisa Abney scholarship honors the inter-corps relationship between Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps and the CorpsVets as well as the memory of Lisa Abney. Lisa was the spouse of Spirit alum and former CorpsVets member Jeff Abney and she was a strong supporter of both Spirit and the CorpsVets.  To honor Lisa’s memory, a scholarship of $250 is offered for a member of the Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps to help offset their tuition costs.

Interested performers must submit an essay describing why they should be considered for these scholarships to scholarships [at] corpsvets [dot] org by Friday, March 18, 2011.
