Colts Seek Summer Tour Director

The Colts are seeking a Tour Director for the summer of 2011. The Tour Director will travel with the corps from approximately June 1 until August 15. This is a part-time position that begins working immediately on a part-time basis while the corps is not touring, and becomes full-time during the summer tour.

This individual will be responsible for planning and directing all phases of the corps’ summer tour operations. Duties include, but are not limited to, organizing and directing a team of administrative assistants, directing transportation personnel, food preparation workers and other volunteers, planning and executing the summer tour schedule, making housing arrangements for the corps, executing housing agreements, coordinating with key staff members on daily schedules, directing local food, hospital and airport runs, and generally acting on behalf of the Corps Director in his absence. This individual will have full charge responsibility for ensuring that the corps’ daily summer operational needs are planned and executed, as well as handling any other emergencies or events that arise on tour which address ensuring that the corps members, staff and volunteers have a safe, productive and satisfactory summer tour experience.

Qualified candidates should have experience in planning, scheduling and directing a drum corps summer tour. Experience in supervising, directing or managing people are essential for this position. Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, as well as an intuitive ability to keep 150 plus people happy and productive while living like vagabonds on the road, is a must.
