Mandarins Announce 2011 Drum Major And Field Conductors

The Sacramento Mandarins are proud to announce David Coyner as drum major for the 2011 season. David will be responsible for all on and off field drum major responsibilities. David will be joined by field conductors Katie Fortuna and Joey Fragada.

David Coyner is from Reno, Nevada. He is a 21 year old music education major at the University of Nevada, Reno. This will be his sixth and final year marching drum corps and his fourth with the Mandarins organization. David is currently participating in many of the University of Nevada ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Brass Quintet, Chamber Choral, marching band and Jazz Lab bands. He has also served on the staff at multiple high schools in the Reno area including McQueen and Reed High Schools.

Katie Fortuna is currently in her second year studying Psychology with a minor in Music at the University of Nevada, Reno. In her four years at Robert McQueen High school, she was a member of the color guard, mellophone section, and was drum major before graduating in 2009. Katie was also the mellophone section leader for the Mandarins in 2010. Outside of drum corps, Katie is an active member of the UNR community and is a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.
