2011 Cascades February Camp Report

So many great accomplishments at this camp as the brass & percussion played the entire show from top to bottom for the first time this year. Seeing all the excited & smiling faces on the students and staff was amazing. “To be completing the music book for the entire show this early in the season is HUGE for the Cascades,” stated John Freeman, long time Cascades staff member.

NYMA Board President Mike Bujnowski was along for the ride this weekend and was extremely positive upon seeing how things are moving forward with the drum corps. Support staff fitted all performers for the new uniforms and after a long process of sorting through many qualified candidates, the announcement of the Assistant Conductor was made. Caitlin Heber was selected to join Bennie Hodder’s continued leadership as Drum Majors for the 2011 season. The guard continued to learn more choreography for the closer. This is a great leap forward for the guard and so much farther along than in most recent years.
