New Arkansas Drum Corps In Need Of Brass Musicians

| |

Arkansas Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps, a new marching ensemble open to those ages 14 and up, is currently preparing its inaugural 2011 field show…but is encountering a hurdle.

The corps looks to make a strong showing in its first season, already possessing a strong percussion section and what is shaping up to be a large color guard. The brass line, however, is arguably the most important section in this type of musical group. The corps is in dire need of 12 to 15 brass musicians to help fill its ranks.

Arkansas Thunder’s next rehearsal will be at Fountain Lake High School just north of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Saturday, March 19th from 10am-10pm and Sunday, March 20th from 10am-5pm.

Attendance is free for first-time participants. Only mellophones, trumpets, marching baritones and contra-style tubas are allowed in drum corps. Prospective players are asked not to bring any other instruments besides these.

This year’s program is entitled “Division and Unity” and will feature the works of Jack Stamp, Eric Whitacre and W.A. Mozart.

Those attending this weekend’s rehearsal are asked to RSVP by calling (501) 463-4278 or by joining the Arkansas Thunder Facebook page.
