Nolen, Reed Join Music City Legend Percussion Staff

Music City Legend is pleased to announce that Kevin Nolen and James Reed, both well-known percussion instructors in the Nashville area, have joined the corps’ professional teaching staff.

Mr. Nolen joins MCL as Percussion Caption Head and Battery Arranger. He attended Jacksonville State University in Alabama where he studied percussion under Clint Gillespie and Tracy Tyler. JSU’s marching program, under the direction of Ken Bodiford, is recognized internationally and highly regarded as one of the premier college marching band programs in the country. While at JSU, Kevin was a member of the snare line with both the JSU Marching Southerners and the JSU Indoor Drumline. In 1998, the JSU Drumline finished in 2nd place at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in Orlando and, in 1999, were the PASIC College Drumline National Champions and recipients of the “Best Snare Line” award. He was a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps and later served on the percussion staff of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps before taking time off from the activity to focus on his family.
