Boston Crusaders Launch Best American Cadence Contest

| |

The Boston Crusaders and Mapex Drums are pleased to announce the Best American Cadence Contest!

The task:
Write a 1-2 minute cadence or ‘street beat’ orchestrated for snares, tenors, 5 bass drums and (optional) cymbals.

The competition:
Compete against other composers nationwide for the title of Best American Cadence

The payoff:
Have your name and your composition featured and performed by one of the best drumlines in the world. WIN a Mapex Quantum XT Marching Snare Drum, in Boston Crusaders’ Sterling Sparkle lacquer finish with chrome hardware.

Rules:

  • Only one entry per person is allowed
  • Contest is open to both amateur and professional performers and composers
  • The composition must be at least 1 minute long and no longer than 2 minutes
  • The composition must be your own, you cannot copy or submit your school’s, your corps, or someone else’s work.
  • By submitting your composition you consent to allow the Boston Crusaders to use and distribute the composition in any way Boston Crusaders sees fit.

Details: We will accept any submissions, from handwritten sheet music to virtual drumline tracks with accompanying PDF scores. (The more multimedia included in your submission the better.) The Crusaders will feature a weekly submission on the BAC facebook page and crusaders.com. Crusaders Caption Head Ellis Hampton and his staff will select a limited number of ‘finalists’ which will then be voted on by the public.

The winner will have his or her composition premiered by the Boston Crusaders at DCI Salutes America in conjunction with MENC’s (The National Association of Music Education) Music Education Week as well as performed by the corps at parades and performance opportunities throughout the 2011 Drum Corps International tour. In addition, co-sponsors Mapex Drums will provide the winner with an exact copy of the Mapex Quantum Snare Drum that the Boston Crusaders snareline will be performing on in 2011!

Beginning immediately, musicians of all ages and levels are encouraged to submit their compositions to the Crusaders by emailing BAC [at] crusaders [dot] com or by posting various media on the contest site, facebook.com/BACContest
