American percussionist Brian Archinal wins the International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition 2011

On Sunday, April 17th, the American percussionist Brian Archinal was awarded the first prize (€4.500) of the International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition 2011. He was one of the five finalists who battled it out for the three prizes. Following his second round audition with All facing upwards van Piet-Jan van Rossum and Corporel (which means “having to do with the body”) by Vinko Globokar he performed Louis Andriessen’s Woodpecker and part one from Bone Alphabet by Brian Ferneyhough.
