Connecticut Hurricanes Announce 2011 Drum Major

| |

The Connecticut Hurricanes are extremely pleased to announce that Vidal Orduz has been selected as the head drum major for the 2011 season. Vidal, age 22, is starting his seventh year with the corps and beat out a quality field of candidates to be chosen for this position. Vidal was a baritone player for the Hurricanes and is a substitute teacher by trade. Besides being a Hurricane, Vidal works with the Community Outreach Program that helps teach area high school members on brass and woodwind instruments. This free of charge summer program is run by members of the Hurricanes. In the fall moths he is a visual tech for the Newtown, Ct. High School Marching Band. Vidal also has been pretty active as a musician playing euphonium and trombone with the brass quintet that he helped assemble once he graduated from Western Connecticut State University. He also gives private teaching lessons to many students in the area. Vidal stated that he is not nervous at all in taking the podium this summer for the corps and promises to live up to the expectations that are now placed on him. Vidal Orduz is a very easy going individual and drum corps fans will soon take notice of his infectious smile and great personality. Please welcome Vidal Orduz to the Hurricanes podium when he visits your town this summer.
