Connecticut Hurricanes Announce New Percussion Educators

| |

As announced to the membership at last weekend’s camp rehearsal, the Hurricanes have made some changes to the Percussion Educational Staff for the upcoming season.

Added to the 2011 Team are Mike Schmitt and David Dumont as Co-Percussion Caption Heads, Stacy Palumbo as Snare Technician and Austin Avery as the Percussion Visual Technician. These new team members are no strangers to the State of Connecticut, the Hurricanes and DCA. Mike and Dave were formerly with the Caballeros in similar capacities as well as percussion arrangers. Mike is also the Percussion Arranger and Caption Head at Westhill HS in Stamford CT which was a Scholastic A semi-finalist at the recent WGI World Championships. Dave is the Battery Arranger and Percussion Caption Head at Norwalk HS which was the 2011 Musical Arts Conference Scholastic Open Indoor Champion as well as WGI World Finalist in Scholastic Open in 2011. Stacy is also a technician at Westhill HS as well as former marching member at the Hurricanes and Caballeros. Austin has been associated with a number of successful programs including Norwalk in 2011 and the Caballeros. Austin marched with the Spririt of Atlanta.

We would like to welcome Mike, Dave, Stacy and Austin to the Hurricanes family in 2011!!!

We would also like to thank Damien Escarpeta for his time with the corps this year and wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors!!!”
