Cadets Scholarship Fund Helps Bring Dreams To Reality

A year has passed since our loss of Susan Erben, former development director of The Cadets, and her passion and devotion to the corps can be seen in every Cadet on the field this summer. In remembrance of Susan, and the joy she brought into our lives, The Cadets felt it appropriate to mark the day by sharing the impact she continues to have on its membership this season, and will have in the years to come.

For the first time in The Cadets history, seven deserving Cadets were able to fulfill their dream of becoming a member through the implementation of the Cadets Scholarship Fund, an effort Susan strongly believed in. Susan marched in the corps in 1978 and was involved with the corps, administratively, from the 1980 to 2010. Before her death on June 24, 2010, she spoke frequently of her wish to have a fund created for the support of members who needed assistance and, although it was not created in her lifetime, The Cadets launched the program last fall in her lasting memory.
