Thomas Claesen: Best Percussion With The Cavies

Gradually, there are more and more Europeans who have been members of a corps which went on to become the DCI world champion. There are precious few, however, who have been members of a winning drum line. The Belgian Thomas Claesen did just that this year. As a member of the Cavaliers drumline, he won the Best Percussion award.

Claesen, who is a staff member of DrumSpirit in Belgium, this year marched in the Cavaliers’ tenor line. The ‘ExtraordinarY’ show got the highest score by the percussion judge, and as a result received the Fred Sanford Best Percussion Performance Award. The Cavaliers got 19.6 points for the Percussion caption, two tenths above the Blue Devils and four tenths above The Cadets. Judge Jeff Prosperie put the Cavaliers in first for both sub captions.
