Govenaires Seek Visual, Brass Instructors For 2012

| |

Fresh off of winning its third Drum Corps Associates (DCA) Class A championship, the Govenaires Drum and Bugle Corps plans to expand its visual and brass staff.

The St. Peter-based group is looking for experienced instructors to help improve on the gains made last year. Besides winning the 2011 Class A crown in Rochester N.Y., they also finished 7th overall in the brass caption and took high visual in the general effect caption.

Even though the Govenaires prize competitive success, the soon-to-be 85-year-old corps runs a relaxed and open rehearsal environment. Instructors are expected to teach a “box-five” show to members with various performance backgrounds.

Anyone with experience in teaching these areas in marching band and drum corps is invited to contact us for more information. If you’re interested in working with fun-loving yet professional performers, send your contact information and a brief outline of your experience to director [at] govenaires [dot] org.

Founded in 1927 as the St. Peter Legion corps, the Govenaires have entertained countless people. In the past decade, they’ve added competitive success to the mix, winning DCA Class A championships in 2006, 2009 and 2011.
