The Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps of Burlington, New Jersey are pleased to announce the 2012 Design Team. Key Poulan will be joining returning members Mike Russ – Drill Designer and Visual Caption Head, Don Pfleger – Brass Caption Head, Jaime Szenberg – Percussion Caption Head, Anthony Tanasy – Guard Designer and Caption Head and Bill (Woody) Woodward – Percussion Arranger. Both Bill Woodward and Mike Russ are also current staff members of the noted indoor percussion line, United Percussion.

Key Poulan has been active in marching music since his days as a member of the Marshall High School Marching Band in Marshall, Texas. He received a degree in music education from East Texas State University (currently Texas A&M – Commerce) and was a member of the Baritone line for the Blue Devils, where he studied writing under Wayne Downey. Key Poulan has arranged and composed music for a variety of drum corps including Santa Clara Vanguard, Glassmen, Spartans, Hawthorn Caballeros, Bushwackers, Teal Sound, Allegiance Elite of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Millennium of Bergamon, Italy. He is recognized as one of the leading composers for both marching band and drum corps and recently composed the score for the movie “On the Starting Line”.

Corps Director Tom Maiello, is confident that the addition of Key Poulan to the current staff will build the momentum that the corps felt as they began their second decade. “Having the staff return from last year gives the corps a solid foundation and creates a feeling of stability. Last year’s staff brought out an energy in our members and give them the drive to succeed. We’re looking forward to an exciting year with Key Poulan coming on board, ” said Maiello.

The Raiders’ first audition camp is the weekend of November 19th in Burlington, NJ. Details will be available on www.raiderdbc.org.
