The ten-time Drum Corps Associates World Champion Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps will host its annual MEMBERSHIP DAY 2012 open house on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Twin Valley High School, Elverson, PA. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m., and the program begins at 12:00 noon.

All persons interested in learning more about the Reading Buccaneers and being a member of the championship drum corps are encouraged to attend. Membership in the Buccaneers is open to men and women of all ages with an interest in brass or percussion instruments or the color guard.

The program will begin at noon with an announcement of the corps’ 2012 production. Prospective members will then break into sectional rehearsals, while parents and relatives are encouraged to join the administrative staff for a question-and-answer session.

The Buccaneers also welcome volunteers who can fill a variety of vital needs for the corps. Anyone interested in learning more about volunteering with the Buccaneers is also invited to attend.

Founded in 1957, the Buccaneers are an education-oriented musical organization. The Buccaneers were founding members of Drum Corps Associates and won the first-ever DCA World Championships in 1965. Additional titles followed in 1968, 1979, 1980 and, most recently, in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 – all six undefeated championship seasons. At the 2009 DCA World Championships, the Buccaneers earned the highest score in DCA history, with a 99.025 out of a possible 100 points. In 2010, the Buccaneers set or extended DCA records for most consecutive wins, most consecutive world championships (6) and most overall world championships (10). From 2005 through 2011, the Buccaneers won a record 64 consecutive contests.
