If you are from the North Shore, you very well may remember the sound of drums and brass in the air over the summer as local drum and bugle corps practiced their routines at various football fields, vacant parking lots , or the neighbor’s front lawn…. Indeed nobody ever minded listening to the Arbella drum and bugle corps, upon coming back from a competition, as they performed an enthusiastic victory concert at Riley Plaza in Salem – at midnight. Those were the days when every town had a drum and bugle corps, and they were the pride and joy of their communities.
