Reading Buccaneers Announce Buccaneers Scholarship Fund

| |

The Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps today announced the creation of the Buccaneers Scholarship Fund.

The purpose of the fund is to enable the Buccaneers to assist members who struggle meeting their financial obligations to the corps. Beginning with the corps’ 2013 season, as available funds permit, Buccaneers who are otherwise members in good standing but are experiencing financial hardship will be awarded credit towards their tuition. A committee comprised of corps administrators, instructors and alumni will allocate available funds.

The Fund is a variation on the current Member Sponsorship program, in which members solicit tuition assistance from friends and family members, with contributions specifically earmarked towards their tuition. Here, the Buccaneers have established a general scholarship fund for the committee to allocate as available funds and need permit. To the extent excess funds are available, they will be used to supplement the corps’ annual scholarship it awards to outstanding college-bound members.

Contributions to the Fund are welcome from all Reading Buccaneers alumni, fans and friends in any amount, and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Box 13032, Reading, PA 19612-3032.
