Percussive Art Society Announces New Executive Director

Percussive Arts Society (PAS) is pleased to announce Larry Jacobson as the new Executive Director of PAS and Rhythm! Discovery Center. Mr. Jacobson will begin his duties on November 1, 2012. PAS President Lisa Rogers expressed “On behalf of PAS, we are thrilled that Larry Jacobson has accepted the position of Executive Director. I believe Larry’s passion for percussion as well as his creativity and keen business skills will continue to serve the Society well as it has most recently under Michael Kenyon’s direction.”

Larry holds a Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance from the University of Maryland, Master of Music degrees in both Jazz Studies and Percussion Performance from Indiana University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University. He is currently a doctoral candidate pursuing an EdD in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University. Mr. Jacobson’s most recent position was as the North American Vice President of Financial Services for the Universal Music Group (UMG). During Larry’s tenure with UMG, he oversaw the accounting shared services department, the North American travel program and he was an integral part in the 1999 merger with Polygram Holdings, Inc., which led to the centralization and direct oversight of all the label marketing administration departments. Prior to his work at UMG, Larry served as Vice President of Administration for MCA Records, which included Marketing and Recording Administration.

Larry Jacobson stated upon his acceptance as the new Executive Director, “Since its founding in 1961, the Percussive Arts Society continues to be a trusted global educational and performance-oriented resource for percussionists and musicians alike. As the new Executive Director, I am very excited to continue to inspire and encourage our members as we expand the scope of PAS’ and Rhythm! Discovery Center’s vision well into the 21st century and beyond.”
