2013 7th Regiment December Camp Report

| |

With the New Year right around the corner, 7th Regiment is looking forward to the 2013 season and an opportunity to bring their largest and most formidable edition yet to Indianapolis. This past weekend, newcomers and returning faces to the instructional staff had an opportunity to get to work on establishing musical and visual technique with potential members of the 2013 corps.

“The chemistry of this instructional staff will set a fine model for our corps membership. In order to succeed, our corps must learn to work as a team with the principles of trust and camaraderie. In order to do so, they need to look no further than the instructors that will be working with them day in and day out in the summer,” says program coordinator Stephen Lyons. Returning staff leadership from previous seasons include designers/educators Mike Blancaflor, Jeff Bickford, Ray Fallon, Jack Tully, and Mark Maguire. As a returning staff member and a newcomer to the role of Color Guard Caption Head, Eric Schrader rounds out the design team. According to Corps Director, Tim Rall, “We continue each year to build a team of top-notch instructors who will give our members their best chance to excel.”

Following Sunday’s dismissal, first-year baritone Kate Skinner summed up her first impression on the staff: “…from the moment I arrived at camp until the moment I left, I was learning not just about this Drum Corps but about myself as an individual, and how I fit into the bigger picture! All of the staff use their talents and passion to give us all of the tools that we will need to have a fantastic season!” After her (excused!) late arrival to the camp, veteran age-out Chrissy Nadeau remarked, “When I arrived on Sunday I was amazed with the amount of energy and excitement I was surrounded by. I am extremely proud to be part of such an amazing organization for a second and final year with 7th Regiment. I look forward to an extraordinary season with this year’s corps!”

It is not too late for motivated individuals to join our membership and spend the summer perfecting their craft. Battery applicants should contact Jeff Bickford directly at jbickfrd [at] gmail [dot] com to learn details on the extremely limited number of positions we have available in the drum line. Interested front ensemble percussionists, color guard members, and wind musicians should not hesitate to register at 7thregiment.org and make plans to attend the January 11-13 Camp.
