Santa Clara Vanguard Announces 2013 Hall Of Fame Inductees

Santa Clara Vanguard is proud to announce the 2013 SCV Hall of Fame Inductees.

1967 saw the birth of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps and its first competitive season. SCV continues to hold the distinction of being the only organization to be a finalist in the Drum Corps International (DCI) World Championships since the inception of DCI in the fall of 1971.

In 2012, the Santa Clara Vanguard organization established the SCV Hall of Fame and inducted its first member – Mr. Gail “GR” Royer, its founding Director. This year, the Vanguard organization and Santa Clara Vanguard Alumni Association are once again proud to honor some of our most distinguished staff and Vanguard alumni.

Some were there at the very beginning as members or instructors, when the idea of winning an American Legion National Championship (1970), VFW National Championship (1971) or the DCI World Championship (1973, 1974, 1978, 1981, 1989 & 1999) were only dreams.

The Vanguard organization is proud to announce the 2013 inductees into the Santa Clara Vanguard Hall of Fame:

Fred Sanford – DCI Hall of Fame-1991, Percussion Instructor & Designer for SCV; World renown percussionist

Pete Emmons – DCI Hall of Fame-1989, Visual Instructor & Designer for SCV; renown visual instructor and designer

Cherlye (Wall) Gregg – Charter member of SCV and a member of early SCV Rifle Squads

Mel Canales – Charter member of SCV, SCV Soloist, Brass Instructor for SCV

Sheri McGinnis-Aquilina – Marching member of SCV, Color Guard Instructor B-Corps, Vanguard Color Guard Instructor

These inductees will be honored at this year’s annual Santa Clara Vanguard Spaghetti Dinner (Birthday Dinner) held on Saturday evening, March 9 at the Vanguard Hall in Santa Clara. Please join us as we welcome and honor these exemplary members of the Vanguard family to our Hall of Fame.
