2013 Boston Crusaders February Camp Report

Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, FL continues to be Boston Crusaders’ Winter “Home Away From Home” – a smart move for the northeast based drum corps. While the city of Boston received measurable snow for the third weekend in a row, the drum corps of the same name was hard at work learning the first minute of drill to their 2013 production and the last movement of music.

With the Presidential Inaugural Parade fresh in the corps’ rear view mirror, our next big focus has started to take shape – the 2013 competitive program. The onslaught of students began around 5:30 Friday night, some still hopeful of a spot with the 2013 corps. As they assembled for their opening meeting, Executive Director Tom Spataro let the members know that there was a high level of expectation from the drum corps for this coming weekend. “The staff and design team has expectations of playing through the entire production, and learning a minute’s worth of drill. That could be a lot on our plate, but I am optimistic that we will rise to the challenge.” Off to sub sectionals they went and the sounds of camp came to life. Drummers drumming, tubas and their low tones!
