Bridgemen Reach Out To The Drum Corps Community

| |

It seems like everywhere you go, bridges are being repaired, repaved and even raised up higher. This is necessary to ensure their safety and longevity. Here in Bayonne, the Bridgemen Alumni Corps, in an effort to ensure their survival, are reaching out; building bridges to the drum corps community.

With their current membership drive netting many new members, the Bridgemen have found themselves in a position with equipment that needs replacing, an aging equipment truck that is in need of repairs, professional writers and instructors that needs to be paid for their valued work and uniforms that require some TLC. That, along with insurance, transportation and other operational expenses makes it increasingly difficult to stay above water. It’s no secret to anyone that money is tough everywhere but, the administration of the corps has worked hard to streamline the operation and has been forced to be more creative in their fund raising efforts.

At a recent administration meeting, a new campaign called the Bridgemen Benefactors was launched. The team wanted to come up with a way to solicit donations and to give something back in return. The Bridgemen Benefactors program does just that. Donors can choose to participate on a number of different levels and get something in return. Tax deductible donations can be made at the brass, silver, gold or platinum level. The platinum level ($100.00) will get you a listing in the souvenir program at the Tournament of Stars, 4 premium seats to the show, an exclusive Bridgemen Benefactor T-shirt and your name will be stitched into one of the world famous yellow uniform coats. If you’re planning on attending the show, it’s a great way to make sure you get an excellent seat for this fabulous night of music, fun and pageantry.

The Bridgemen have an exiting summer schedule planned for their members. Aside from participating in Their hometown Memorial Day parade, the Tournament of Stars on June 22nd, and Bayonne Day, the corps is currently negotiating with the organizers of Boston’s July 4th celebration which is a nationally televised event. They will also be performing at several Drum Corps International and Drum Corps Associates events, including the DCA world championships at the naval academy in Annapolis, Md., and the DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown, Pa.

Residents of Bayonne can be proud as the corps represents The Peninsula City across the country, entertaining tens of thousands along the way. They play a major part in drum corps history and they are recognized across the globe. Now is your chance to be part of the Bridgemen.
