Sunrisers, Carolina Gold Move To Open Class

The Sunrisers have had a very rich and successful history since their beginning in 1950. It was at a Marine Corps League meeting that it was decided to form a drum corps to help promote youth activities around the Long Island area. With seven National titles and six DCA World Championships under their belts, the Sunrisers will move up to Open Class this year. Their last title came in 1988 when they TIED with the Bushwackers and then tied again with Bush again the next year but lost by .10 to Bush under the newly installed tie breaker rule.
