Thurrock Marching Brass Win At Coseley, West Midlands

| |

Thurrock Marching Brass attended their first competitive show on Sunday 7 July 2013, which was held at Coseley School in the West Midlands. Competing in the Cadet Class, the show saw the young marching band up against 5 time Cadet Class Champions the 37th Kingswood Cadets, who had not lost a single Championship for the last 5 years in this class. The heat was intense for all the competitors but Thurrock’s local marching band were looking forward to unveil their 2013 competitive program entitled Ker-Ching. A production that includes some well known hit songs by ABBA and arranged by Thurrock Marching Brass’ Musical Director Reece Crisp.

After many hours of hard work by everyone, the performance that the kids gave was amazing and the large appreciative audience made it known just how much they enjoyed it also. The judges also agreed and awarded the band 1st place, beating the 37th Kingswood Scouts Cadets for the for top honours. The band also won individual awards for Best Visual Detail, Best Music Detail, Best Music Effect, Best Visual Effect and Best Colourguard in their class.

Speaking of the victory a very proud Corps Director, Darren Crisp commented “We were initially concerned about the intense heat on the day and so managed that by keeping all the kids in the shade and plied with water throughout but their performance was just incredible for a first show outing. It never ceases to amaze me just how talented everyone is here at Thurrock Marching Brass, from the Board of Trustees, My own Staff and especially all the Parents and Supporters, all of which give 100% to ensuring that the kids have the best experiences that we can give them. I would like to thank everyone involved in helping the kids to achieve this very special milestone, not just for victory against the very talented 37th Kingswood Scouts Cadets, but for continuing to work together to achieve great things here in the community of Thurrock as well as on the competition field. It’s a wonderful place for kids to come to and to learn good solid values and have fun all at the same time”
