Hawthorne Muchachos Invite New Members

| |

The Hawthorne Muchachos Drum and Bugle Corps are opening their membership to those who want to participate in the 2014 season. An Open House is scheduled for November 10th from noon until 6 PM at American Legion Post 369, 65 Oak St, in Oakland. The Open House provides a chance to meet current corps members and to practice the 2014 program.

The Hawthorne Muchachos are nationally recognized for their legacy of championship performances with Latin flair. The 2014 Memorial Day Parade in Oakland will be their first public appearance since the corps went inactive in 1978.

Mike Durborow, Show Director, said, “The Open House will feature instruction from a high caliber staff well known to the drum corps world. We’re also going to highlight music that the Muchachos are known for. It’s going to be a great day.”

The 2014 season is designed to provide an opportunity for both alumni and new members to participate in drum corps with a limited commitment of time. If you ever wanted to join the Muchachos and experience the world of drum corps, this is now your chance.

About the Hawthorne Muchachos Drum and Bugle Corps
The Muchachos were organized in January of 1959 under the auspices of Hawthorne American Legion Post 199. During the 1960s and 1970s the corps performed in national and NJ state competitions. They were nationally ranked and collected twenty four championship titles during a fifteen year period. In 1974 they won the prestigious Drum Corps International East Championship.

Many former members are now leaders in business, education, medicine, law, the military, physics, finance and the arts. There are also several alumni and staff that have been inducted into the Drum Corps Hall of Fame. The corps became inactive in 1978, but has now been reactivated for the benefit of both alumni and new members.
